Cloud Services Engineer

We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Entrust Certificate Services vertical within the Cloud Services team, with strong Operations experience.

This position is based in our Canadian office (Kanata) and reports to the Manager SSL, Cloud Services.

Entrust Certificate Services is responsible for the deployment of all the application components of Entrust Datacard’s SSL cloud service offering including build out of new releases for the SSL product.

Position Overview The Entrust Certificate Service includes a wide array of components including web services, application servers, databases and certificate authorities as well as supporting infrastructure.

This role focuses specifically on the OS (primarily Linux-based) and the middleware components that integrate this service together, including authentication, monitoring and operating-system and application lifecycle management.

The role will work very closely with the SSL Architect for the Entrust Certificate Services as well as the rest of the Cloud Services Operations team to ensure all OS and middleware is designed, tested, documented and deployed to a high standard.

Responsibilities Work with the SSL team to complete design and deployment of ECS service initiatives.

Support and assist SSL Operations team with Entrust Certificate Service application deployment during release cycles as required in a hybrid environment (containerized and non-containerized).

Analyze, install, acquire, modify and support lifecycle management systems, operating systems and middleware, with consideration for resiliency and disaster recovery requirements.

Perform product evaluations and make product recommendations.

Implement system enhancements (both process and software) to improve performance and reliability of the ECS solution.

Perform software lifecycle management (including patching) throughout the environment including QA, Staging and Production systems in accordance with the organization’s strict requirements.

Assist the SSL team during yearly audits by collecting and providing evidence in support of documented systems management procedures.

Create and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles and tasks as required for system deployment and process automation.

Create system documentation (build books) as required using both application and web-based tools.

Manage Entrust Certificate Services’ internal authentication and authorization platform.

Perform system and application sanity testing on all new operating systems and middleware implementations.

Attend regular change advisory board meetings to schedule maintenance, providing detailed work plans and minimizing impact to customers.

Manage activities with complete integrity and in accordance with the organization’s policies, systems, practices and programs.

Provide escalation assistance as required to resolve any significant OS or middleware related issues that may arise.

Perform incident analysis and resolution.

Perform periodic monitoring and data analysis to measure quality of service.

Basic Qualifications College or University Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience 5 years IT experience 3 years of High Availability, High Security, Internet Data Centre Experience and the requisite rigour needed to operate in that environment Documentation skills and experience Strong organization skills and detail-oriented Excellent problem-solving skills Design and deployment experience with most of the following technologies: Ansible, Git, Apache Tomcat, VMWare vSphere, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Satellite/Foreman, Docker/Docker Swarm, CheckMK.
